We have been living in a city that is the only thing we have ever known. The metal bars that are built around us hold us in like a prison. You are the only other person who has noticed. In the distance, far away from the familiar metal of the city, there is a tower that stands for freedom. So it’s clear what we have to do. We set off on an adventure, two human beings headed for the unknown. And all of the pixels that make up our empire start to flicker and we find our escape out of what used to be home. We are alone, surrounded by dunes of sand that speak words to the wind. But after what seems like an infinity, we reach the bottom of the tower that stands for freedom. As I look around at the nothingness that surrounds us, I am glad I’m on this adventure with you.

A woman with a father and a husband who could be in two places at once. A woman wearing a yellow dress, swinging a baseball bat and destroying everything in her way. A woman who wears the piece of the other side chick. A woman wearing a fur coat in a desolate, abandoned parking lot. A woman, vulnerable and naked in a bathtub, contemplating her funeral. A woman with her friends, markedly not thinking about him. A woman in a house on fire. Her house. Remembering suddenly all that she had loved and lost. Alone in a stadium, talking to someone who’s not there. A woman with forgiveness for the man she promised to love. A woman who spins gold out of hardship. Who makes lemonade out of lemons.

i am that girl who cares too much. i care too much about things that don’t matter, about things that i’ll grow out of and things that aren’t worth worrying about. but youth is all about savoring those small moments that we’ll grow out of later and look back when we’re old and have no more light inside of us and be happy that we did that one thing. just because it’s temporary doesn’t mean it’s not real or significant. be happy that you’re crying and drunk at your friend’s party because your ex is there. revel in the feeling of being young and lost and heartbroken and in love. this is what it’s like. remember me.
